Taxonomic remark Doweld (2013) contends that this genus is preoccupied in botany by Lecythium R. Hertwig & Lesser, 1874 ("Cercomonadophyceae"), however the latter's placement is treated as zoological in IRMNG (family Chlamydophryidae in Cercozoa), with Doweld's proposed replacement name Lecythiomyces therefore treated as a superfluous substitute name in botany.
