Taxonomic remark Original spelling Punctati-sporites, the hyphen now (since 2017: Shenzhen Code, Art. 60.12) treated as a correctable error. Previously believed by workers to post-date Punctatisporites (original spelling Punctati-sporites) A.C. Ibrahim, 1933, however discovered by Doweld to have been published first; Doweld, 2017 then proposed that this name (based on a different species, now in Lygodiumsporites) be rejected in favour of Punctatisporites (original spelling Punctati-sporites) A.C. Ibrahim, 1933, a proposal that was accepted by the Nomenclature Committee for Fossils (Herendeen, 2020). [details]
