Taxonomic remark Note from LPSN: According to Rule 51b (1), the order name Thiotrichales Garrity et al. 2005 is illegitimate because it contains (i) the genus Beggiatoa Trevisan 1842 (Approved Lists 1980) which is the type of the order Beggiatoales Buchanan 1957 (Approved Lists 1980), and (ii) the genus Leucothrix Oersted 1844 (Approved Lists 1980) which is the type of the family Leucotrichaceae Buchanan 1957 (Approved Lists 1980).
