Taxonomic remark pro -phoneudea Fromentel 1860 (Nomen. Zool.). WoRMS (2023) lists "Polysiphonia Pomel, 1872 sensu Levinsen, 1893" as a synonym of Haliclona Grant, 1841, with the remark: Polysiphonia is a genus name for fossil sponges (used twice, Pomel, 1872 and Finks, 1995, and was also proposed for corals (see Herwig, 1882), and hydroids (see Lendenfeld, 1885). The use of this name by Levinsen appears to be for a sponge of the genus Haliclona. [details]
