Taxonomic remark Sometimes placed in own class, Synurophyceae (e.g. in AlgaeBase, 2020 version), however other sources e.g. Ruggiero et al., 2015; Adl et al., 2019 retain as an order in Chrysophyceae. Members of this order nest within Chrysophyceae in molecular studies e.g. Cavalier-Smith & Chao, 2006; Grant et al., 2009. [details]
