Taxonomic remark Authorship given in Index Nominum Genericorum as A.G. Lyon, 1964, and in El-Saadawy & Lacey, 1979 as Lyon, 1964 ex Høeg, 1967. The name was originally published as a nomen nudum by A.G. Lyon, 1964 (no description); El-Saadawy & Lacey, 1979 re-studied it and attributed valid publication to Høeg, 1967; according to Kerp et al., 2001, Høeg's diagnosis was inadequate (also no type species designated), therefore the name should be attributed to A.G. Lyon, 1964 ex El-Saadawy & Lacey, 1979. The taxon is ascribed tentatively in IRMNG to Zosterophyllopsida following Kerp et al., 2001, although El-Saadawy & Lacey (without the taxonomic restudy of Kerp et al.) considered it to have "similarities to both Zosterophyllophytina and Rhyniophytina".
