Taxonomic remark Described as a fossil fern (originally Ficites subgen. Hymenopteris). Skog (1986, 1990) reassigns the type illustrated material to the Lycopsida (Lycopodiales) under the new name Tanydorus, however Hymenopteris has priority. Since the original type specimen has not been traced, a new type and name have been created for additional material examined by Skog under the name Wathenia. [details]
