Taxonomic remark Basionym: Gleicheniidites subgen. Peregrinisporis Krutzsch, 1959. Authorship at genus level not given in Raine et al., 2011, or traced elsewhere at present; mentioned by M.E. Dettman, 1963 (Upper Mesozoic Microfloras from South-Eastern Australia, Proceedings of the Royal. Society of Victoria 77, 1-148) who states: Krutzsch (1959) redefined Gleicheniidites to receive both smooth and spinose, trilete microspores having a thickened exine in the equatorial, interradial regions. Five of the six subgeneric categories proposed by Krutzsch incorporate smooth-walled spores and conform with the above generic diagnosis; Krutzsch’s other subgeneric category, Peregrinisporis, contains microspores having spinose sculpture, and these spores are excluded from Gleicheniidites as emended above. [Thus, Dettman is possibly the author for this genus]. [details]
