Descriptive info Upper Riphean; Mirojedikha River, Turukhansk district, Krasnojarsk Territory, Russia. (Index Nominum Genericorum) [details]
Taxonomic remark This genus spelled Polytrichoides (?same taxon) in Sergeev et al., 2012, Polythrichoides in ING (presumed correct although original work not seen). Sergeev et al. state: Polytrichomous filaments of Polytrichoides are compared to modern stigonematalean cyanobacteria (Timofeev et al., 1976). From formal position genus Polytrichoides should be a junior synonym of genera Eomicrocoleus and Eoschizothrix. However, we still consider the synonymy as premature because many forms described inside these genera probably belong to various species of cyanobacteria and eukaryotic algae. [details]
