Taxonomic remark Originally described as a bryozoan; reassigned to Cnidaria (class and order uncertain) by Hageman & Vinn, 2023, presently followed in IRMNG, although possibly not universally accepted at this time. Hageman & Vinn state: The late Cambrian phosphatic fossils identified as Pywackia from the Tiñu Formation, Yudachica Member near Río Salinas, Mexico, are cnidarians but are not assigned to a class or any other suprageneric taxonomic group. Pywackia likely represents a rare, minor clade in an otherwise unknown cnidarian group, possibly, but not directly related to conulariids, octocorals, and/or tabulates. [details]
