Taxonomic remark Doweld, 2017 proposed to conserve the genus name Autophyllites versus the earlier published (replaced) name Bryon Grand'Eury, 1885, however this proposal was rejected by the Nomenclature Committee for Fossils (Herendeen, 2020). Since Autophyllites is nomenclaturally superfluous, and therefore not recommended for use, it is possible that the use of higher taxon names based upon it such as Autophyllitaceae may be questionable. [details]
