Taxonomic remark (Pre APG placement: Hydrophyllaceae). A homotypic synonym of Galax Linnaeus 1753 (nom. rej.) according to Index Nominum Genericorum. Willis, 1983 and Plants of the World Online (2017 version) list Erythrorhiza as a synonym of Galax Sims in Ericales, however these appear to be in error if the synonymy given by The Plant List, that Erythrorhiza rotundifolia Michx. is a synonym of Galax aphylla L. (now Nemophila aphylla), is correct. [details]
