Taxonomic remark From Philippe & Bamford, 2008: type material lost; very probably a junior taxonomical synonym of Brachyoxylon Hollick et Jeffrey (Philippe, 2002). Bodnar, 2017 formally proposed to reject this name against the later published name Protocupressinoxylon, a proposal that was rejected by the Nomenclature Committee for Fossils (Herendeen, 2020) on the grounds that [additional] "taxonomic research on Protocupressinoxylon, Protobrachyoxylon and Brachyoxylon is necessary before any informed decisions can be made". [details]
