Taxonomic remark A nomen novum for Spiromastix Kuehn & G.F. Orr, 1962, non Spiromastix Perfiliev, 1929 (Algae), however Hirooka et al., 2016 use the name Spiromastix Kuehn & G.F. Orr as valid and suggest it should be conserved against Spiromastix Perfiliev, 1929 in algae, if needed. However Hyde et al., 2024 accepts Spiromastigoides (and family name Spiromastigoidaceae) as the correct names for these taxa. [details]
