Taxonomic remark A homotypic synonym of Cheirolepidium Takhtajan ex S.J. Dijkstra 1971 according to Index Nominum Genericorum. Junior homonym of Cheirolepis Boissier, 1849 (extant Asteraceae); a candidate replacement name (recognised by Doweld, 2020 as a new genus rather than a replacement name since no "full and direct reference to the replaced name" was supplied) is Cheirolepidium Takhtajan, 1957, however Doweld states that the earliest validly publshed name for both Cheirolepidium and Cheirolepis Schimp. is Hirmeriella Hörhammer, 1933. [details]
