In Notulae Algarum 179, 1-7, Molinari-Novoa & Guiry pointed out that this proposed new name was in fact superfluous since t the earliest legitimate name for the listed species was Bacillosiphon, a heterotypic synonym of Bacularia and, by extension, of Borziella.
