Taxonomic remark Leaves of Cordaites accompany fructifications of multiple families (Cordaitaceae/Cordaitanthaceae, Vojnovskyaceae), plus other species probably belonged to Arberiales, refer Meyen, 2012. According to this logic, Meyen prefers to abandon Cordaites as the basis for its corresponding family and order and instead base these on Cordaitanthus O. Feistmantel, 1876, a proposal which is not unversally accepted. [details]
