Descriptive info two species Cyanospira rippkae and Cyanospira capsulata found in freshwater lakes in Kenya [details]
Taxonomic remark Not validly published, = Anabaena Bory ex Flahault, 1886 (subg. Dolichospermum) (CyanoDB), however included as an accepted genus in Komárek et al., 2014. In botany, a junior homonym of Cyanospira Chodat, 1921 (Euglenaceae, = Euglenidae in zoology); replacement name is Neocyanospira E.A. Molinari-Novoa & M.D. Guiry in Molinari-Novoa et al., 2021. From Molinari-Novoa et al, 2021: [The name Neocyanospira was] originally introduced by Florenzano & al. (1985), it was validated in the proposal for its conservation (Juráň & al. 2015), which was not recommended twice (Prud’homme van Reine 2017, Andersen 2018). We use the suggested name for this genus given in the latter report, so it may be valid and available for use under both the ICN and the International Code of Nomenclature for Prokaryotes (ICNP).
