Taxonomic remark Galeopithecidae is the older name for Cynocephalidae and is used in McKenna & Bell, 1997, however Jackson & Thorington, 2012 state: as the family Cynocephalidae Simpson, 1945, was in common usage before 1961, it should not be replaced according to Article 40.2 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999:46). Name synonymized within Galeopithecidae by McKenna and Bell (1997:328) but recognized by Stafford (2005:110) and most recent authors. [details]
