Zool. as "n.n. pro Desmoteuthis Verrill 1881" [Dec], however that name not established as new, apparently just a later usage; this name is in essence a new genus name created for one species of Desmoteuthis (D. tenera). A synonym of Teuthowenia Chun, 1910, refer Voss, 1985; listed incorrectly as a syn. of Taonius in WoRMS. [details]
