Taxonomic remark Originally described as a chondrichthyan fish but in fact part of a phyllocarid crustacean, refer Rolfe & Denison, 1966. A family name based on this genus name, Pseudodontichthyidae Obruchev 1964, is likewise invalid in fishes, refer van der Laan, 2018. Note, as at 2023, the Paleobiology DB still has Pseudodontichthys listed in fishes, following Sepkoski, 2002 (the latter is incorrect). [details]
