Taxonomic remark Originally described as a sponge, later attributed to stromatoporoida or hydrozoa; Watkins & Wilson, 1989, argued for a codiacean green algal affinity. Vachard & Kabanov place in family Palaeoaplysinaceae, considered a fossil red alga (Rhodophyta). [details]
