Descriptive info Fossil according to SN2000 [details]
Taxonomic remark From Rybczynski et al., 2009: This analysis of Puijila and early arctoids (including pinnipeds, musteloids, ursoids and their fossil near-relatives) recovered a clade uniting Amphicticeps, Potamotherium and Puijila with Enaliarctos ... Within the group, Amphicticeps is most basal ... Previous phylogenetic assessments had aligned this taxon tentatively with ursoids (2), and most recently as the sister taxon to a clade of pinnipeds plus all other musteloids (7). [details]
