Taxonomic remark The domestic dog, treated as a subspecies of the wolf, Canis lupus, in ITIS/Catalogue of Life, 2020 versions (following Wilson & Reeder 2005), however treated as a separate species in some/many sources (e.g. Jackson et al., 2017). Under that scenario, Canis dingo Meyer, 1793 would be treated as a synonym of Canis familiaris instead of Canis lupus Linnaeus, 1758 as given in Wilson & Reeder, ITIS, etc. [details]
