Descriptive info Lower Devonian; Brazil (Ponta Grossa, Paraná). (Index Nominum Genericorum) [details]
Taxonomic remark Originally described as fossil annelid tubes, ascribed to Serpulites sica Salter by Clarke, 1913; redescribed as a putative alga by Sommer, 1954. Type material re-examined by Van Iten et al., 2019, and stated therein to be identifiable as Sphenothallus (originally Serpulites) sica, interpreted as a fossil Cnidarian. Since the type material was described as an alga, the name stands within botanical nomenclature for the purposes of homonymy. [details]
