Taxonomic remark From Zhang et al., 1998: Papillomembrana compta was originally described from phosphorite clasts in deep basinal conglomerate aprons emplaced by gravity slides (Spjeldnaes, 1963; Vidal and Nystuen, 1990). Spjeldnaes (1963) drew tentative comparisons to dasycladacean green algae; Vidal (1990) subsequently recognized that Papillomembrana is a large, process-bearing acritarch. [details]
