Taxonomic remark Doweld, 2017 pointed out that Caryapollenites (initially Caryae-pollenites, note additional letter and hyphen) was a superfluous and illegitimate name although in current use, and proposed its conservation with a new type, a proposal that was recommended for acceptance by the Nomenclature Committee for Fossils (Herendeen, 2020).
