Taxonomic remark Conventionally assigned to Cyanophyceae, although Champenois et al., 2023 suggest that these structures may have been "constructed by non-phototrophic, Fe- and Mn-oxidising coccoidal, bacilliform and filamentous bacteria" (described as "calcimicrobes" in their text). [details]
