Taxonomic remark Originally described as Volvox-like (i.e. eukaryote, ?chlorophyte), however González-Flores et al., 2022 state: The resemblance of Eosphaera to Eovolvox, which was thought to suggest affinities between these forms (Kaźmierczak, 1976), is largely superficial, as Eosphaera lacks a well-defined thick inner wall or any evidence of internal daughter colonies (Tappan, 1976). [details]
