Taxonomic remark Harvey, 2023, discussing Cambrian "ring-form colonies closely resembl[ing] in size and shape the rare Silurian palynomorph Kahfia", suggests "the best comparisons among living groups are with hydrodictyaceans" but notes "the Forteau fossils [including those close to Kahfia] are not easily assigned to any modern coenobial group at a lower taxonomic level (Hydrodictyaceae, Scenedesmaceae or Volvocales) and they perhaps represent an independent green algal exploration of coenobial habit".
