Taxonomic remark Normalised from Polypodii-sporonites. Nom. rej. (recommended) vs. Polypodiisporites R. Potonié, 1933, refer Herendeen, 2016: Potonié revised his system of naming spores and pollen in 1933, changing e.g. Polypodii-sporonites to Polypodii-sporites (more recently treated without hyphens), however such replacement names were illegitimate until proposed for conservation by later workers. Saxena & Trivedi, 2006 include this as an accepted name in addition to Polypodiisporites, which is an inconsistency; following Herendeen, 2016, only Polypodiisporites should be used for this taxon.
