Taxonomic remark Genus accepted (validly published) in Index Nominum Genericorum and Mullins, 2007, however according to Williams, 2012 it is invalid (no holotype designated for type species). Williams also states that the type species, L. simplex, is a synonym of Orygmatosphaeridium holtedahlii, which if confirmed would make Lacunopsophosphaera a junior synonym of Orygmatosphaeridium. (He also lists the other included species of Lacunopsophosphaera as syns. of Orygmatosphaeridium spp.) [details]
