Taxonomic remark Lyonophyton rhyniensis is the free-living gametophyte of Aglaophyton (originally Rhynia) major, refer Taylor et al., 2009. Novikoff & Barabasz-Krasny, 2015 treat the two genus names as synonyms with Lyonophyton having priority; other sources retain both names as form-genera. Placed in own family (Lyonophytaceae Doweld) by Novikoff & Barabasz-Krasny. [details]
