Taxonomic remark nomen novum for Cribrosphaera Reytlinger, 1954. Listed in Schlagintweit et al., 2013 as a possible syn. of Thaumatoporella. The latter is treated in IRMNG as algae incertae sedis (dasycladalean green algae according to De Castro, 1988), however Schlagintweit et al., 2013 contend that it may have a protozoan affinity.
