Taxonomic remark Illegitimate; this genus originally included two genera published by W. Gothan in 1905: Phyllocladoxylon and Podocarpoxylon. (Index Nominum Genericorum). Podocarpoxylon is a presently accepted name and most of the specimens assigned to Mesembrioxylon appear to correspond to this genus and so this is the synonym assertion presently used in IRMNG, although Mesembrioxylon continues to be used by some authors. [details]
