Taxonomic remark Initially described as microproblematica, possibly a pteropod. Considered an alga by D. Vachard in D. Vachard & C. Montenat, Palaeontographica, Abt. B, Paläophytol. 178: 28. Aug 1981. (Index Nominum Genericorum). Treated as a synonym of Earlandia Plummer, 1930 (Foraminifera) in WoRMS, 2019 version (opinion of Gaillot and Vachard, 2007). 1 species, A. kotori, now assigned to fossil cyanobacteria, now Decastronema (refer Golubic et al. 2006). Genus listed as Cyanobacterium (fossil Scytonemataceae) in AlgaeBase (2019 version), however this is incorrect as the type species is a foraminifer. [details]
