Taxonomic remark From Niko et al., 2019: The suprafamilial classification of Greenlandoceratidae has been in much disagreement. ... In this paper, we consider Greenlandoceratidae as a familial member of
Pseudorthocerida after Barskov (1963). ... Note that Pseudowutinoceras is the type genus of Pseudowutinoceratidae Chen in Chen & Zou, 1984 that is here synonymized with Greenlandoceratidae, accordingly. Armenocerina was previously placed in Cyrtactinoceratidae Chen in Chen et al., 1981, and both Eostromatoceras and Sibumasuoceras were in Cayutoceratinae. The familial status of Richmondoceras was originally left uncertain by Frey (1995). All these genera are now assigned to Greenlandoceratidae. ... Barskov (1963) included Stereoplasmocerina Kobayashi, 1936, Proteoceras Flower, 1955, Mysterioceras Teichert & Glenister, 1953 and Ephippiorthoceras Foerste, 1924 to Greenlandoceratidae, but none of these assignments are acceptable today. Stereoplasmocerina is believed to be a junior subjective synonym of Stereoplasmoceras, the type genus of Stereoplasmoceratidae (see Sweet, 1964). Proteoceras, Mysterioceras and possibly Ephippiorthoceras belong to Proteoceratidae. In addition, Dzik (1984, p. 130) included Lyecoceras Mutvei, 1957, Nebroceras Zhuravleva, 1978, Stromatoceras Teichert & Glenister, 1953, and Metastromatoceras Zhuravleva, 1957 to Greenlandoceratidae. None of these assignments, however, are supported here. [details]
