Taxonomic remark From Ebert, 2018: Because Lane and Ebert (2015) corrected an error of taxonomic nomenclature originally made by Agassiz (1834, 1843), the Ophiopsidae are not satisfactorily defined and thus the taxon should not be used anymore. Ophiopsis muensteri Agassiz, 1834 (‘Furo’ münsteri in Lambers, 1998), is the original type species of Ophiopsis; all other species until Lane and Ebert (2015) named as Ophiopsis are placed in the genus Ophiopsiella.
