Taxonomic remark Perhaps mythical; based on a drawing that is probably a rough representation of Epiceratodus Teller, according to Jordan. A sketch based on a madeup fish and involving a hoax (Herald 1961). (Eschmeyer). According to Whitley, the hoax involved a composite animal "a creature, part platypus, part lung fish and part eel" of which a description/image was then sent to Castelnau. [details]
