Taxonomic remark APG III (2009) used this name for Xanthorrhoeaceae sens. lat., i.e. also including Asphodelaceae and Hemerocallidaceae. APG IV (2016) prefers Asphodelaceae for the same enlarged family and a proposal has been submitted to restore the priority of Asphodelaceae (which is the earlier published name and is also in general use for most of the included genera, but is not presently a nom. cons.) which is anticipated to be approved in 2017, refer APG IV (2016).
