Taxonomic remark n.n. pro Madigania Sprigg 1949 (Nomen. Zool.). The Ediacaran genera Ediacaria, Cyclomedusa, and Spriggia may be junior synonyms of Aspidella, for additional information refer Mapstone & McIlroy, 2006, alternatively they may all be maintainable as separate form-genera. According to MacGabhann, 2007, Spriggia, Aspidella and Ediacaria represent end members of the "Aspidella plexus"; Runnegar, 2021 considers at least Ediacaria to represent a holdfast of Arborea Glaessner & Wade, 1966, so Spriggia is tentatively placed in the same order in IRMNG at this time. [details]
