Taxonomic remark Note from LPSN: According to Rule 51b (1), the family name Thiotrichaceae Garrity et al. 2005 is illegitimate because it contains (i) the genus Achromatium Schewiakoff 1893 (Approved Lists 1980) which is the type genus of the family Achromatiaceae Massart 1901 (Approved Lists 1980), (ii) the genus Beggiatoa Trevisan 1842 (Approved Lists 1980) which is the type of the family Beggiatoaceae Migula 1894 (Approved Lists 1980), and (ii) the genus Leucothrix Oersted 1844 (Approved Lists 1980) which is the type of the family Leucotrichaceae Buchanan 1957 (Approved Lists 1980).
