Taxonomic remark Neave (Nomenclator Zoologicus) lists this generic name with authorship Forbes, 1845 and publication details Rep. Brit. Assoc. (York, 1844), 14, Trans., 64, however per that work the name is not specifically presented as new, simply as a record of an "addition to the British Fauna... a remarkable new zoophyte ... the Funicularia quadrangularis", which is almost certainly a lapsus for Funiculina quadrangularis (Pallas, 1766) in the genus Funiculina Lamarck, 1816. In that case, "Funicularia Forbes, 1845" becomes an invalid name, distinguishable only for its (erroneous) cataloguing by Neave as an implied new name; it also means that the later name Funicularia Monterosato, 1884 in Mollusca is not preoccupied and does not require to be replaced by Ividella Dall & Bartsch, 1909, as stated e.g. in Landau & LaFollette, 2015,  [details]
