Taxonomic remark see Jepsenis Kretzoi & Kretzoi 2000 (Nomen. Zool.). Listed in original work as "Plesiadapis cookei, new genus and species", however the genus name is not new (being originally established by Gervais, 1877) and this is clear from other text in the work, which mentions both family Plesiadapidae, and the pre-existing species Plesiadapis dubius Matthew, in addition to other Plesiadapis species (P. tricuspidens, P. gidleyi).
