Taxonomic remark Name based on the genus Cycadeoidea Buckland ex Lindley & Hutton, 1832 (nom. cons. prop., refer Doweld, 2016), family Cycadeoideaceae; the alternative name Bennettitales is used for the same group in the literature and in some current sources e.g. Taylor et al., 2009. The order is placed in its own class (Cycadeoidopsida) within phylum (Division) Cycadophyta in the system of Novikoff & Barabasz-Krasny, 2015, however these ranks are reduced (e.g. Cycads are now a class) in IRMNG in order to be congruent with the treatment of other higher plant groups in IRMNG. [details]
