Taxonomic remark Originally described as an angiosperm fruit with two carpels, each containing a single seed; reinterpreted by Herendeen et al., 2017, as equivalent to Archaeamphora, which is now believed to represent an insect gall on the leaf of a fossil conifer. [details]
Type species as cited Described as an early angiosperm fruit from the Yixian Formation, Early Cretaceous of China, however see Herendeen et al., 2017 for reinterpretation (although this is disputed by Wang, Natural Science 9: 399-405, 2017). [details]
