Descriptive info From Knaust, 2020: Stratigraphic distribution. Early Cambrian (e.g. Peel 2015) to Holocene (e.g. Kulkarni & Panchang 2015). [details]
Taxonomic remark From Knaust, 2020: Originally as a nomen nudum in Richter & Richter, 1939. Ichnogenus (fossil coprolite). Potential producer(s). Given its long range and variable morphology, Coprulus ichnospecies are probably the product of multiple producers belonging to different groups of organisms. Annelids, particularly polychaetes (e.g. Heteromastus and echiurans) are the most likely producers of Coprulus ichnospecies in many cases, although other vermiform organisms such as enteropneusts as well as gastropods and bivalves must be considered.
