Taxonomic remark Family included (as "Toxoglugeidae Larsson", assigned to Microsporidia incerate sedis) in Index Fungorum and Wijayawardene et al., 2020, but the attribution to Larsson appears to be an error. It is mentioned in a paper by Voronin, 1993, and is possibly a nomen nudum in that work. Earlier (1980), Larsson placed Toxoglugea in Thelohaniidae (Ultrastructural study of Toxoglugea variabilis n. sp.(Microsporida: Thelohaniidae), a microsporidian parasite of the biting midge Bezzia sp.(Diptera: Ceratopogonidae). R Larsson - Protistologica, 1980), so this family is provisionally treated as a synonym of Thelohaniidae in IRMNG at the present time. [details]
