Taxonomic remark Basionym: Stereisporites (Tripunctisporis) Krutzsch in Döring et al., 1966. From Herngreen et al., 1986: "The subgenus Tripunctisporis Krutzsch in Döring et al. (1966), type species T. maastrichtiensis, was invalidly raised to generic rank in Kedves and Herngreen (1980). This shortcoming is now rectified." However, Zhang et al., 2021, following Potonié, 1956, 1966, 1970, list Tripunctisporis as a synonym of Sphagnumsporites. [details]
