Taxonomic remark Illegitimate: a junior homonym of Gleichenites Göppert, 1836 (all included species of which have since been transferred to other genera in pteridosperms e.g. Neuropteris, Sphenopteris, and Eremopteris). In essence a redefinition of Göppert's genus with a different type. This name has been used by recent European and American workers, refer Cantrill, 1998; Australian workers have used Microphyllopteris Arber, 1917 for Mesozoic ferns otherwise placed in Gleichenites. However according to Vera & Passalia, 2012, the type species of Microphyllopteris is in fact a pteridosperm (synonym of Rintoulia) and these authors propose the new name Korallipteris for the relevant fern taxa.
